Interesting bird. I imagine they give quite a nip, how do they protect themselves from a large host creature rolling over to deal with them? If they could unlatch in an instant to fly away, that would probably be ideal.

I'd advise studying bird wings and how the feathers fold together. Otherwise this is a very pretty illustration, especially the glowing highlight. Gives the impression of the feathers having a slight metallic shine.
